Because stupidly enough, because my great, great, grandfather, could've owned their great, great grandfather that makes (most, but not all) people feel like we (white people) owe them (black people) something! Which to me is just stupid for different reasons:
For one, why should I have to pay for what my great, great grandfather may have done? He's not me. He was dead before I was even conceived and since when do we charge people with what their relatives have done?
Secondly, we bought slaves from black people in Africa, so whites aren't the only people responsible for slavery (which is where I think all this animosity comes from). Also although it was very uncommon, there were black slave owners in America. Yes, some black people owned other black people. While slavery did have to do with race, slavery wasn't just about race it was about money.
Finally, blacks weren't the only slaves, they we're just more common. There were white and Indian slaves right here in America.

You're reading It's not okay for a "white" person to hate someone because their "black", then why in the hell is it okay for a "black" person to do it?

We need to admit because as long as we denied what was done not only during slavery but afterward we are connected to those actions. As a country we have not admitted anything and this is wrong. As long as we excuse our fore fathers we condone their actions and continue the hurt that rips our country apart.

We haven't admitted anything? Is that what you said?
Have you ever heard of affirmative action? The Emmancipation Proclomation? (sp?)
Everyday white people have to walk on eggshells when discussing anyone black, even if we're not talking about their race. Meanwhile Al Sharpton and Rev. Wright openly talk horribly about white people and everyone is ok with that.
Don Imus lost his job because he made one racist comment, meanwhile Chris Rock made his stand-up career out of bashing white people. He says cracker so much you'd think he was eating chili.
Lisa McClelland tried to start a white club in a school where they had a black, hispanic and an asian club. While no one had a problem with the black, hispanic and asian club, Lisa was deemed a racist and was persecuted so bad she had to change schools.
White people everyday are still paying for what their ancestors did. If you're white (I am) and I say something to my neighbor about how their children annoy me, do you think you should have to appologize just because you're white too?
Where does it end? When do we start taking resposibility for our OWN actions? All American slaves and slaveowners are dead and I WILL NOT appologize to black people for the fact that my ancestors MIGHT have owned a slave (not all people owned slaves, just the rich ones) that was captured and bought from a black person in Africa!
