Can you change a proverb to make it humorous? (for example: "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man grouchy, with blood shot eyes.")

    Sometimes things like that are correct. But i don't think you can do that with, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". if you did it would sound like, "A bird in the hand is silent whereas the birds in the bush make music."
