Proprioception as defined by Tortora: ""The perception of the position on the body parts, especially the limbs, independent of vision;tis sense is possible due to proprioceptors" and proprioceptors are tendon organs, muscle spindels, joint kinestic receptors and hair cells. Without proprioception we would have to SEE where every body part was to know, and we would have terrible balance. They are also responsible for muscle stretch and tension.
