God is love and burning people in a literal fire never even came up into his heart.
http://bible.cc/jeremiah/7-31.htm
The God of the Bible does not do that. "The wages sin pays is death"(Romans 6:23),not an immortal soul burning in Hell. "The soul that sins itself will die"(Ez 18:4)
Matthew 5:22 speaks of those liable to “hell fire” or “Gehenna”. To use “hell fire” gives a false idea, for in the original Greek it reads gehenna of fire; gehenna is the Greek for the Hebrew ge′i-Hinnom, meaning “valley of Hinnom”. This valley lay to the west and south of ancient Jerusalem. During the time of the later kings of Judah it was used in the idolatrous worship of Molech, human sacrifices being offered to this god by fire. (Josh. 15:8; 2 Chron. 28:3; 33:6; Jer. 7:31, 32; 32:35) To prevent its use again for such horrible religious purposes faithful King Josiah had it polluted and it came to be the dumping place and incinerator for the refuse of Jerusalem. (2 Ki. 23:10) The dead bodies of animals were thrown in, to be consumed by the fires kept burning there and to which sulphur or brimstone was added to assist the burning. Even bodies of executed criminals thought too vile to have a resurrection were disposed of there. If the bodies did not reach the fires but lodged on a ledge of the deep ravine worms consumed them.
Have you ever noticed how one translation might say hell and at the same verse in another translation might say grave?
Link to several translations of Psalms 16:10 http://bible.cc/psalms/16-10.htm
Link to Acts 2:27 http://bible.cc/acts/2-27.htm Notice that the Greek Hades is the same as the Hebrew Sheol. Translators try to translate Sheol, Hades, and Gehenna as Hell to support that idea. The Douay Rheims actually has Job praying to be protected in Hell. http://bible.cc/job/14-13.htm

Hell is a misinterpretation by the translators. There is not a word in the Bible that should be translated as Hell.
Youngs literal does not have Hell in it at all.

NASB has Hell in it 13 times. (Gehenna)

King James has Hell in it 54 times.

The New King James has Hell in it 32 times.

God is a God of love, but also a God to be feared, greatly.

(Genesis 2:17) But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
(Genesis 3:3-4) But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die.
(Ezekiel 18:4) Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.
(Deuteronomy 30:15) “See, I do put before you today life and good, and death and bad.
(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

Good to hear from you. How is your garden this year? I'm hoping your garden will be bountiful this year. Economy is bad and I'm sure your fellow parishioners can use the food.
My wife and I planted tomatoes, zuccini, beans, corn, cucumber and cantaloupe.
You are a good man, Texasescimo. Are you going to Alaska this year?
by HoboJoe on June 30th, 2010
Hello HoboJoe, that was real nice and nice to hear from you. Every year my garden gets a little smaller as it takes up too much of my time. When I started gardening on my own about 4-5 years ago, I was doing 2 gardens with a little more than a 1/4 acre. This year, probably a little more than an 1/8th.
We had a tun of rain in the winter and spring and we went to Hawaii so I got a late start on tilling. After all of that heavy amount of rain, we have bout totally dried up. We got some rain 2 days ago for the first time in over almost 2 months. The occasional scattered rains kept missing us. I did not plant corn or okra this year, kind of wish I planted okra but I did not because you have to pick it 3 times a week or it goes to seed as it really loves the hear. I planted taters, tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, cantaloupes, and watermelons.
Most of my taters rotted in the ground as we still had an unusual amount of rain after I planted them. I actually planted squash as a trap crop for bugs as I had read a list of trap crops to plant for different types of insects on an organic gardening website a few years ago but do not remember the type of squash that was preferred. I planted crookneck squash and then when my mom found out that I planted squash she sent me some butternut seeds. Squash going great but the bugs seem to prefer my cucumbers. I am not sure what types of cucumbers I planted as I don't remember buying more than one kind but there are at least 2 kinds out there and several plants died from that bacterial wilt that cucumber beetles carry. I wanted to plant Gurney's Giant Hybrid Canteloupes as I planted them a few years ago and they were large and tasty. Gurney's had a crop failure so I just bought imperial 45 recommended by a local feed store and they have a ton of babies on them but I don't think they get very big.
Not going to Alaska this year. Last year we went in August when my watermelons were going into harvest. I had set up a watering system to where all my aunt had to do was turn on the spigot 2-3 times a week and a friend was going to come harvest veggies. He told me that alot of the vines looked like they were drying up and needed water. When I got back, I discovered where rabbits chewed a hole in one of my lines to get water (Which the rabbits needed more than I). Most of the water went to that area. Probably a little more info than you wanted. Lol.
I forgot what area you live in? How are you and your wife doing? How are your veggies doing?

I live in the Bay Area. We used to have a big garden. But we cemented the backyard for the grandkids. Now we have just enough land for a few plants. Getting old anyways. Don't know how our veggies will come out this year. Last year we gave away tomatoes until November.
I do like country music. The classic Johnny Cash, Waylong Jennings kind. I go to Youtube and search for the 50's, 60's and early seventies songs. Happy 4th of July!!!
by HoboJoe on July 1st, 2010
Thank you. Johnny Cash is one of my favorites. We have watched the movie: "Walk the Line" several times. We are hoping to have grandkids some day. Our oldest son got married last week and his wife wants them to move to Texas, don't know how they feel about kids. Our middle son got married last year and they say they do not want to have kids. My tomatoes have not produced a whole lot this year. I am guessing the heat as I know that when it gets above a certain temperature, the pollen dies and it has been hotter than usual. I hope your tomatoes do as well this year as last. I am sure your friends hope so too as fresh veggies are better than store bought, and can't beat the price of free tom's from a friend. Lol
