    This is a fallacious premise. Muslims do not starve for god; they eat huge feasts each night. Fasting is common in many religions.

    It is not for done strictly for god; it is to remind people that they are more than just bodies, that there are more important things than their bodies. Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is a time of worship and contemplation.
