Without quoting a dictionary or the Bible, what do YOU think is the difference between "spirit" and "soul"? Are they the same things?

You're reading African American, why do you still strongly worship white man's Christian beliefs, when they were forced over your traditional ancestral spiritual beliefs when captured & slaved? (to understand more, please see my answer below) No offense intended.

I ask as it was white man who forcefully took others from their native environment, made them slaves, then forced Christianity on most and education on some ... As too throughout Africa, Australia and many other places, white man set up his church to force his own beliefs ... My question has nothing to do with you! ... its about history ... and based on what the Aboriginal Australians point is toward their forced change ... A vaild question for anyone who understands. ;)

Made them slaves? More like relocated those enslaved already. Perhaps you need to reread your history. Blame those that originally enslaved them...news flash: they weren't always (or predominately) white. Ignorant question.

I simply state what has/did happen, and ask about free change today ... I dont mention white law today ... Where do I mention 'todays' white man or you for that matter in this? ... Your aggressive response to a question aimed at others seems to allow a little paranoia to surface perhaps by your direction of this being a racist question, its about religion! ... Your comment seems to somewhat contradict itself ... Relax! ;)

Exactly...it is about *religion*...which has nothing to do with *race*. You are the one who asked an ignorant...or perhaps it was simply a loaded question by making it a racial issue...which is is not. You struck a nerve by asking a baited question dragging race into something that has nothing to do with race...furthering racial disparity, and that is what I take offense to. Is this world not fucked up enough with silly racial bullshit? Do you really feel it necessary to promote racism by manipulating questions injecting false premises under the cloak of a belief system?

He didn't make any assumption that because YOU are white that you're christian. He just said that it was a religion OF white people. not that all of them are. He is asking why we as African Americans didn't rebel against the religion of the people that enslaved us, that's all. You are unnecessarily offended.

Icebox:
"He is asking why we as African Americans didn't rebel against the religion of the people that enslaved us"
Umm no. He is not asking that at all since most African slaves were enslaved mostly by fellow Africans...who were largely not christians, anyway. Heck...they largely followed the very beliefs the asker is linking to! I thought it was an ignorant question. I was wrong. It was a blatant loaded question with an ulterior motive. Sorry you cannot grasp that. Perhaps in time you will wise up. I wish you the best.

However in many cases, the slaveowner was a white landholder.

This question pretty clearly says that he's talking about black enslavement by whites, not anything else. I'm not sure what you think that has to do with black being enslaved by other blacks.

Once in this country, of course! That's who bought them on the free market...where it was legal at the time. Have fun spewing your racial rhetoric. I'm not buying it.

Lol, ok.
Have fun building up your castle walls.
I hope your turrets work well.

Borderlinux> For a start my friend, I am a white Australian opposing white religion, what would I gain from what you believe ... My question was not race related ... it states human history, it is related to your, my and others past ancestors perhaps ... A valid question based on what todays Christian Australian Aboriginal has made his choice to return to his spiritual belief ... I could not ask the question without quoting the past ... I dont blame all Germans for Hitler's atrocities, yet its hard not to mention him being German when speaking of the main place of the holocaust ... Your interpretation of this is negative only.

Correction! opposing 'forced' white religion ... Peace.
