Yes, mostly in local competitions, as far as I've seen, and most of these are showcases rather than actual competitions. I'm sure there are international competitions. To answer a question you posed - kung fu is not added to the Olympics because most people don't view it as a sport. In my experience, people don't enter kung fu for the purpose of competition. You will rarely find competitive kung fu fighters like you find Judo, Ju-jitsu, karate, and taekwondo. There are a lot of people advocating for karate to become an Olympic sport, but you won't find the same for kung fu.

Kung fu is very versatile. Most practitioners of kung fu will tell you that it is good for much more than self-defense. Martial arts will teach a person about all aspects of life and themselve.

Kung fu can be used very effectively for defense or attacking. It can be very subtle and hard to read. In my opinion, it is one of the most flexible and versatile martial arts.
