Depends. If someone says "you're a slob & a horrible housekeeper" and its true, then its not nice...but its not abuse.
If someone says "you'r a slob & a horrible housekeeper" but your house is immaculate & you're not a slob, then its not abuse, its the truth.
You should seek marriage counseling to validate your claims. I'm not saying this to be a smartass, I'm saying this to assist you if you truly feel you're being verbally abused. If this is the case, verbal abuse can (in many cases) be worse than physical abuse. And because of that, you may need the assistance of a counselor. Not only will you need his/her support emotionally, but you may need it legally if you proceed to divorce.

I think I need to see a counselor. My biggest fear is that my husband will verbally abuse me to our children if I divorce him. He will poison them to believe that I am a horrible person. At least when I am with them every day, he cannot get away with it. I am terrified that he might get joint custody and I will not see my children every day. I cannot deal with that. He can abuse me for another thirteen years because I am not going to miss ONE day of my children's lives because of joint custody.
