Why do doctors say how long a patient has to live? They say 4 months and 2 weeks later the patient dies or the reverse. Do they guess?

I hate to say this, but WRONG! That is a pure myth.. I know. I was an intravenous drug user for years.
Good health however is a slow way for sure, but no guarantee. ;)

An embolism can absolutely stop the heart or cause a stroke, happens on a routine basis. It would have to be large enough to fill the atrium, but the heart will stop due to an air lock if it has a chamber completely full of air. The heart is a pump, not a compressor ... if you put an air buble in any pump based system, like your pool pump, it will STOP cirulating :-)
It's not a question of IF it will stop the heart, that is a fact. The question is how large it must be of course. Large enough and it's over :-)
