Hybrid cars in the U.S., what is the advantage to ME, to buy one?

    Depending on what you buy, there may be tax incentives or deductions for purchasing. If you get a $5K deduction off your taxes, then that saves you about $1750 or so in tax money so factor that in. I'm not sure if they still offer tax incentives, but that is where you actually break even. Hybrids, too, are only relevant if you're doing alot of city driving. Better off getting a Volkswagen Diesel Jetta TDI.

    A friend of mine has one, and I don't know if she's doing it right, but she claims about 45 MPG and she got a tax credit for buying it.

    • tax incentive, hmm how'd i miss that? I wonder if anyone knows how to work on these things besides the dealer. anyway, thanks for the info!
