Has there ever been documented proof of a human being eaten alive by piranhas?

    No.
    Piranhas are basically scavenging fish and any accidental attacks on humans have been blown out of proportions. Actually villagers on the banks of the Amazon regularly bathe in Piranha infested waters and do not come to any harm.
    It is their intimidating looks and appearance of their teeth that have given piranhas a bad name.
    I give this answer based on a Discovery Channel documentary I watched.
