How can I get my kitten to stop biting? Is there a form of punishment that does not involve physical contact?

    The water gun is a good training method, but it is recommended that you do it in a way so that your cat doesn't see you. The spray is supposed to "come from nowhere", so that the cat doesn't stop feeling safe with you.
    I agree that it's best to just stop all physical contact when the biting occurs.
    Kittens bite because it is how they played with their siblings. Try diverting his/her attention with a toy, too.
    My kittens stopped biting when I used the last 2 mentioned methods, but they still give me "kiss bites" from time to time. I love it :)
