Me and my friend have this bet going on and even tho i proved to him that he is wrong, he still says component is not hd, even tho it supports 1080i and i work at an electronics store, so can anyone back me up here and confirm that component is hd?

Sorry to disagree with the other people posting answers here, but yes, cable and over-the-air HD are 1080i broadcasts, and that certainly can be supported with component video (YCbCr) cables. Do not confuse component video with composite video.

In fact, my HD set is a bit older and doesn't have HDMI, but my HD TiVo has component video in addition to HDMI, and the component video works fine with my set. 1080i looks great!
