Help answer this question below.
What kind of tortoises were they? Different species need different things. Sulcatas can grow to be over 100 pounds and are basically cows with shells. Some such as redfoots actually need some animal protein in thier diet and high humidity (and they get to be the size of a large watermelon). Research the species before getting a pet. You'll need UVB lights and calcium powder in addition to the food and heat light. Eventually you'll need a tortoise table or outdoor pen or indoor pen - aquariums don't work well for adult tortoises. You'll need a humid hide spot, too. Don't forget a good reptile vet - they can be hard to find in some areas, and not all vets are qualified to see reptiles. Visit www.turtleforum.com or www.chelnoia.org or www.tortoisetrust.org if you want to learn more. There are even adoption groups for turtles and tortoises, if you look into adoption. Try www.petfinder.com and rescue groups listed at www.anapsid.org
