Isn't that the same as divorce? My biggest problem with the kids issue is that (imo) such arrangements could actually be easier on the kids than standard divorce. I guess I've just seen too many people use their kids as pawns or drag them through the legal system. Unfortunately, it's usually not because it's in the child's best interest, but because they want to "get back" at their spouse.
