It's a distortion of the truth.

In the song Panama by Van Halen, the canal famous nation is depicted as fun and carefree full of endless drinking, sex and easy living in a tropical paradise when the region is actually stricken with widespread Poverty, crime and drug trafficking...in a tropical paradise.

    • I have also found the lyrics on the web and noted references to women and cars. Another website has 3 or 4 opinions on the meaning but I was looking for an explanation which was from someone who had contact with the band.

    • Panama was the name of a stripper that they met in New Mexico. The song is about her. True story.
