Why is it that when a Christian holds to their beliefs they are called intolerant?(abortion, gay marriage and the like)..

Having beliefs isn't the problem. I don't care whether you believe snowmen come to life, Jesus died to save humanity, pigs fly, or that homosexuality is wrong. You're entitled to your beliefs.

But unfortunately, many (very vocal) Christians do not feel the same way with regards to non Christians. While I will not try to impose my beliefs on the Church or Christians (for example, demanding the Church marries homosexuals, demanding Christians sanction abortions) -- lots of Christians believe their Christian beliefs should be imposed on the rest of us.

They would have homosexual marriage completely banned all over the country for everyone, they would have abortion banned for all women all over the country. They would have the entire population, regardless of their differing religions, all live by Biblical teachings... simply because they personally believe what the Bible says.

So yes, that's intolerant. If you try to impose your beliefs on someone else by taking away their rights, you're being obnoxious and intolerant.

Thank you. I'm glad that someone else sees things the way I do. The only thing I would change would be to allow Atheist organizations the same tax-exempt status and various other political considerations that organized religions enjoy. That might make me a little more tolerant of their many irrational beliefs.
