Question

Help answer this question below.

How to become straight again? I tired praying and asking for forgiveness but it won't work. And I know for a fact that I just can't accept the fact, and I can't live my life the way I want to unless I become the way I was before. I wasn't born like this.

I am afraid to break it to you, but you were born gay. You cannot "turn gay". Accepting it is the stage of a road to relative happiness, you will only make yourself miserable, and if you mask it by marrying a straight girl, you will only hurt her in the long run.

Seek advice from professionals, you migt want to talk to a counsellor or one of the many helplines that are available.

I wish you much luck, and support

    • Can you please cite scientific evidence that shows genetic sexual predisposition? Where does any scientific study show that people are born gay? I'm keen to know since so many people are eager to spout as fact that people are born gay when all the evidence I've seen points to the contrary.

    • The same way heterosexual way are prediposed to be attracted to the opposite sex, its something you are born with, you don't "learn" to be heterosexual, you just are, it is the same with homosexuality.

    • So you say. Show me the research that proves this. Otherwise it's just your opinion, and could be totally wrong.

by Shabba on May 30th, 2007

    • It would seem you disagree, thats ok. It is a well established fact that what I said is correct, I will not give specific research, as I cannot really be bothered but a quick search should bring uo the research you require.

    • I was born gay, I am gay, I will always be gay, and the fact is I didnt choose to be, I just was.

That is all the proof that is needed.

by DiSTurBiA on February 21st, 2008

    • Shabba why don't you show us some scientific proof to prove that people somehow choose to be gay, but then can't "unchoose" it afterwards. Or show us scientific fact where heterosexuals choose to be that and are not born like that.

    • yeah Shabba, show us this "proof", because several countries wth massive banks of computers havnt been able to provide such evidence, but YOU surely can provide this on your own(biblical junk doesnt count, science only no fairy tales thank you)

    • Actually research has been done on this subject, most famously by. Dr. John Money, a sexologist at Johns Hopkins University. He advocated neutral gender at birth and rather famously studied the effects of gender reassignment on one David Reimer. Born Bruce Reimer in 1965, he was raised as a girl after his penis was burned of in an accident. Although he had no idea that he had been born male he spent his childhood secretly believing he should have been a boy. As an adult he changes his name to David and became a man. The physiological and emotional scars where so bad that he committed suicide in 2004.
The results were quite clear, regardless of your physical attributes at birth, your gender is something you are born with. And to deny this will only lead to pain and mental anguish.

    • well look at prop 8 here in California, a move to legally(tho illegally) strip honest citizens of rights! It says it right in the prop. Hmm and to think I actually thought America was somewhat of a civilized nation.....I guess I was wrong.

    • Just saw it last night on the news, looks like it was a lot of Mormon money and "black community" religion, at least according to the British press. The bigotry of the America church has often been difficult for the British public to stomach, but from over here it’s quite frightening to think how un-ethical and backward the world’s most powerful nation can be.

by Retrovampire on November 12th, 2008

    • We in the UK have a strict hands off policy, when religion rears its head. The official church is irrelevant these days and the majority of the British population are secular. Ironic though that settlers in America went there to flee persecution, and then turn around and persecute others lol

      DiSTurBiA

by DiSTurBiA on November 12th, 2008

    • The church is a prier, denying us our freedoms and encroaching on our rights, it’s a cancer within our communities. If people wish to compromise their lives for their religion then that’s fine by me, but who are they to compromise my life for their absurd beliefs.

    • I just think that it's fucked up how straight people are deciding on the rights of gay people, if you guys get married, it has zero affect on me, if someone think it makes their marriage less real, they really don't put much trust into their marriage, otherwise only reason for not allowing gays to marry is ignorant close mindness. It's almost 2009, why are having people such a hard time shaking their anal old school ways?

      Romiex69x

      by Romiex69x on November 13th, 2008

    • You could also put that as religious people deciding the rights of non-religious people based upon "their" religious beliefs.

      steelhamster@aol.com

      by steelhamster@aol.com on November 13th, 2008

    • Society has evolved....both morally and ethically; unfortunately the bible stands still and is retarded some 2000 years. Religion originally used to move forward, it progressed with its followers. But then some racist, bigoted, homophobic, emotionally retarded, highly superstitious Jewish goat herders chose to write their dogma down. Laws are written down but can be edited and amended as morality moves forward, but as the bible is claimed rather laughably to be the inspired word of god it can not be added to or amended, thus leaving it and its followers in the dark ages.

    • I find it odd, that the god squad, cannot produce one shred of testable evidence to support their beliefs, and they forever tell us to disprove their deities existence. As I have said before, I cannot disprove the existence of unicorns, pixies or dragons, but reason tells me that I am right.

    • actually there's more evidence to support pixies, .......NONE! Churches treat homosexuals, and atheists like crap, then get mad when we dont do their evil bidding, and follow them around by the nose. Or they get mad at the fact that we treat them like crap.....WHAT THE HELL DO THE EXPECT!!!!!!! Mormons are supposed to be generally very intelligent(so they claim) man they really have shown quite the opposite so far.

    • I have also found that the religious are very good at lying, I thought originally that this was just them deluding themselves....but have since caught out so many of them. Mormons I have found are even worse, even resorting to bare faced lies. The hatred between Mormons and Christians is intense, so I can only imagine how much they truly hate us.

    • This is very sad. All of you want to put all christians in a group and talk of them as being hateful people that are trying to keep you from having rights to marry whom you wish to marry. I say don't act out of the same hate that you accuse them of. If you want them to accept you for who you are, then you need to learn to accept them as well.

      Candygirl

by Candygirl on November 19th, 2008

    • Firstly Candygirl, its just called letting of some steam. Just letting go of some tensions with like minded people. I think it goes without saying that nobody here would tar all Christians with the same brush.....but we can have a general opinion. When you spend your life living with prejudice you gain a right to get pissed off.
Secondly, maybe you should take your own advice....you know...about accepting them as well. Yes I already know your prejudice against gays, so don`t try to be all holier than thou. And I`m not just referring to religious homophobia, but referring to gays and non-believers as sinners is also being prejudiced.

      Retrovampire

by Retrovampire on November 19th, 2008

    • Well there you go again. You want to tell me that it is acceptable and understandable for gays to be pissed off and judgemental towards christians but it is not okay for anybody else to judge them. What I believe in and what I agree or disagree with still doesn't involve hate towards anybody. For the record you need to know that I do not call non-believers sinners, I call it as it is, we are all sinners, myself included. I thought I had talked to you enough that you would know that by now.

      Candygirl

by Candygirl on November 19th, 2008

    • hmmm well let's see here. Who are the ones forcing their way into politics to strip rights from a group of people simply because of their sexual orientation, a violation of the constitution. Who are the ones continually downing the homosexual, and atheist groups. Spit venom, get venom sprayed back. There's no turn the other cheek. you want peace, then leave us alone, you xtians mind ur own business, and we'll mind our own. Simple, or do I need to use smaller words?

      DiSTurBiA

by DiSTurBiA on November 19th, 2008

    • No there isn't any need at all for you to say anything else to me. You have just proved my point of how hateful YOU are. I can speak for myself only. What have I done to you? Nothing. I haven't personally ever done a thing to you. If you think you are EVER going to get anywhere with this issue you will need to change your attitude against people. I was trying to give you a little bit of advice, you don't want it, fine. Good luck to ya.

      Candygirl

by Candygirl on November 19th, 2008

    • I'm not gay, but I'm against all that homophobia and restriction of their rights, since I know bunch of gay people, and they are regular people like everyone else, just attracked to the same sex. Candygirl you haven't done nothing to them? You haven't spoke agianst gays on AB for example? Did you vote against gay marriage? Or did you buy any chance try to "cure" some gays like most christians do. And I don't like Christians because their pushing their ideals on me, and telling me things like "turn or burn" etc... I never told any christian that if he keeps believing in his stuff he'll suffer for all eternity, all I say is that you guys waste time worshiping imaginery beings.

    • Im not hateful at all, I just wanna be F$#king left alone, and when Im ready be able to marry my S/O, without anyone trying to change me, or put me down, or take away my damn rights! Once again you leave us alone, we'll leave you alone! Worry about yourselves, and let us worry about us!

I keep my opinions to myself and I don't mistreat anyone that doesn't share the same beliefs as me. Thank you for showing that you could have a intelligent and polite conversation with me.

So pedophiles are born that way too.

    • Steel on Water, what is that suppose to prove? I trully doubt that pedophiles choose to be pedophiles. But they need to control and restrain themselves from acting on those urges. Gays don't have to as their acts don't hurt anyone, pedophiles hurt children. Once again where were you going with that statement?
