Do you believe it's up to American citizens to do what they can to help the economy, instead of leaving it up to the government?

    I'm not sure if you've been in the US long, but the citizens of this country have, effectively abdicated most of their rights and finances to the government, on the local, county, state and federal levels. The self-deterministic model of men that founded this country has been decimated by the mass media, cable TV and Hollywood. MAYBE, if these three things were shut down for two years, we could get something done as a populace; but I fear we don't really have the tools or ability to rally to a cause, in aggregate. I mean, realistically, under what conditions would Americans exercise restraint, discipline and reasonably manage their expectations?! Especially, given the fact that what is thrust in our face every day by the big three is completely diametric to these! Just IMHO!!

    • Ultimately, however, it WILL be up to US to do it, the government will do NOTHING but make the situation worse. I believe fear and greed drive humans, and the government has NO fear of a citizenry that has no authority; we have given that authority to the media and their agenda is separate from ours as it is profit driven. The voter-media-politician triangle must be broken, before anything can be done, IMO :-)
