  • You can get herpes from someone even if they are not currenly having an outbreak. So yes you could get oral herpes.

    • How can someone get oral herpes by sharing bathwater? This simply isn't true unless you're snorkeling while having oral sex.

    • Where do you see anything about bathwater? I said you can catch herpes if you have sex/oral sex with them even if they don't have any sores at that time.

    • Oh, crap. nevermind, Namaste. Similar question, got mixed up with the other one. My mistake.

    • PHILLIS- I meant, what do you think of the statement, you can give herepes even without an outbreak. From ALL the doctors I have talked to and other people with herpes I know, and personal experience, it is FALSE. UNLESS it is suck a minor outbreak, they do not KNOW they are even having one..

Read the 4th section Herpes is highly contagious.

    • YES!!! That's one of the reasons 6 out of 9 people have been exposed to it! The carrier thinks they are not contagious because they are asymptomatic. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

    • NAMASTE- and you believe ask. com, as a reliable resource for medical information... I'm sorry but not only is that information wrong, but you are giving people bad information.
PHILLIS- can you explain the difference between an asymptomatic herpes outbreak and NO outbreak. Or am I wrong?

    • NAMASTE-

ASK. COM says you can speard herepes with an outbreak and during a shedding period. That's it.:
"Unfortunately all forms of Herpes do not only spread when
there is an outbreak although this is the period where the risk
is at it highest. Most of the time the virus is
latent but can still spread even when there is no outbreak. In
the so called viral shedding period the virus is also contagious.
The viral shedding period is when the virus reproduces itself and can be easily
be passed on to others via skin contact. This can happen without visible symptoms"

    • Sure! Asymptomatic only means that there are no outward, visible signs of the virus' handiwork. Just because you are NOT having an outbreak OR the sensations in the skin that tell you one is about to occur, doesn't mean that you cannot spread it. In other words - always consider the affected area as infectious no matter what!

    • Not talking about Namaste, the lack of education on genital herpes is utterly absurd! That is why so many people have been infected, and will continue to be, unfortunately. I will do my part to help others.
