You're reading If God is supposed to be forgiving, why did He punish the serpent, Eve and Adam? He sounded kinda harsh and evil.

If you read the Bible completely you will see that it is literal; there are certainly metaphorical stories, but they are stated as such by the authors. Jesus, taught many parables as a way for his followers to comprehend. Personally, I find that it is easier for me to remember them in that style, i.e. the Prodigal Son. I do not get offended when someone has an honest opinion, at least you have an opinion!! If you want to study, I recommend the "Living Bible" instead of trudging through the tougher King James Version; it reads like a novel.

some stories are metaphorical, and some are literal? there is confusion here... don't you think that an omniscient God would have known that there would be some confusion present and tell his divinely inspired authors to write clearly ... or at least to label certain stories as "METAPHORICAL" or "LITERAL"
On the day that adam ate the apple he was supposed to die (Genesis 2:16) but he lived to be 930 yrs old (Genesis 5:5)
btw eve was not present when god told adam not to eat the apple, and she is never told.
