There were far worse tragedies and inhumanities to many other "people" than the holocaust, which also happened at the same time. These were against priests and any other religions that were not just jews. The holocaust was only about 25% of the people that were violated and murdered. The jews were the ones that were used as experimental medical volunteers and other long painful experiments as well as put into the concentration camps.
Actually, due to the holocaust we learned alot about our medical treatments today, not that I ever would have condoned the treatments or atrosites.

    • Why did you place the word "people" in quotation marks in the first line? I also think you should reconsider the word "volunteers" in the last sentence in the first paragraph. "Volunteers" implies willingness.

    • I wondered about "people", as well, Jodie. Perhaps "people" like littleknown shouldn't try to "answer" questions "they" know nothing about.

    • I agree Jodie and PPP - this was by no means a "volunteer" position. Children and adults were brutally beaten, starved, molested and killed by the Germans.

Honestly, I can't think of a time more tragic than the Holocaust. If you have an exammple, I'd like to know about it.

      Thanks!

    • -5 and I wish it could be -10.
      .
MY PEOPLE were part of the "Final Solution"... 75% of us were murdered, including my grandmother's family.
      .
MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS?? That literally had me gaping in shock. Good christ do you have any idea what was done in there? Go read about "Dr." Mengele. Go read about the "Gypsy Family Camp" and all of the rest. And NO, not only Jews were used as experimental subjects. "Dr." Mengele had a "liking" for Gypsies... specifically. This is NOT a good thing.
      .
When I watch archival Holocaust photography I get to wonder if I am looking at my FAMILY, especially when I see footage of the Gypsies. Yes, we were targeted along with the Jews for the Final Solution.
      .
I think you REALLY need some education.
      .
And... what the hell is the word people doing in quotation marks?

    • Sweet Baby Jane-- a few hundred years ago, Europeans sailed across the Atlantic, and forced our way from coast-to-coast in North America. They wiped out countless amounts of "people" (considered savages at the time) ruining thier land, corraling them up into reservations, and destroying thier way of life forever. Those Europeans never had to pay the price for thier wrong-doings, like the Nazi's did. That was, and still is, a more tragic time.
