Depends on what you pursue, network systems, systems admin...I am a network admin asst, and some times are VERY busy, other times I don't have anything to do for a couple/few days. It's worth it if you can afford all the certifications and know you'll be repaid when you get a job, and it's fun too!

Really? I was thinking about trying network systems....
How exactly is it fulfilling? Ofcourse, there is the typical American bias against all careers math and computers as "boring" but I'm sure it can't be like that! I'm great w/ math and programming, but not the best. I'm sure I can do well in it though. What company do you work for and what is it that you do as a network admin assistant?

Ahh man, not boring, I always have something to do. And nerdy? I haven't seen many IT nerds anymore, mostly the nerds are the ones coding software and junk like that. I like the networking systems, because it's not about numbers that much, it's about making networks work, and finding new ways to integrate a company is what I like to do. And automation is very nice too, but be careful not to automate too much, it WILL put you out of a job.

Forgot to answer the last part. I used to work for a Biomedical Engineering company after I left the Army, but now I am settled into this position at a large library system. I started learning RSS, video podcasts, video conversion, all kinds of new things...
