    Country music tends to come from an artist that was raised country. They best definition you can get to a country song would be in David Allen Coe's “You Never Called Me by My Name". Steve Goodwin wrote it and in the last verse, it tells you. It says" I was drunk, the day my mama got out of prison. I went to pick her up in the rain, but before I could get to the station in my pick up truck. She got run over by a D*** ole train." These are the ingredients to a good country song. In addition, many country artists sing a lot about the great outdoors, growing up in the country, songs about their country parents, honky tonks, Harleys, pick up trucks. Country music singers seem to understand the finer things in life rather the “bling bling” of success. Not saying they don’t have a fortune, but you won’t see one make their life seem as glamorous as other genres do.

    Although country music today isn’t country anymore. Not the kind of country that George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Hank William Sr (Jr), and Willie Nelson brought to the table. Today’s country is pop country thanks to artist like Garth Brooks, Shania Twain and Kenny Chesney. The real country music is like the real Rock and Roll, and Hip Hop. It has died and the rawness of it has worn out as it becomes even more superficial as time moves on. This is just my opinion, I grew up listening to all that old stuff and it just doesn’t have flavor of good ole country music, except for bands like Alabama, Travis Tritt and Alan Jackson. Toby Keith is the king of Pop Country, it won’t be long until he and Justin Timberlake to a song together.
