I'm female. Over the last four weeks my hair has started falling out. Not just the odd hair, here and there but hanks of hair. It's blocking the drains, in my mouth, all over the furniture and carpet. What could be the cause of this?

• I have started wearing a loose ponytail as that keeps my hair in place. If I let my hair out it looks terrible. I must have lost about a quarter of it by now. Could be my diet. I hate vegetables and don't eat them much. Thanks for your answer.

• I had the same issues with my hair and so I finally just chopped it all off and got myself a pixie cut. I feel much better with cute hair instead of that boring ponytail I wore every day.

• I have been taking 2 food replacement drinks a day. As I was throwing the packet away I just happened to notice the "small writing". It said if the drink was taken too long it could become toxic in someone who was not drinking enough water resulting in hair loss, peeling fingernails and gout! I had the whole lot at the end. I have stopped drinking it now for about a month and my hair has stopped falling out. I just hope it grows back. It's looking a bit thin.
