Did you know we have some Mindreaders on AB who tell you why you asked a question? Ever run into one? Was he/she right or dead wrong?

I'm very serious...

Well if you want to come back from cold-heartedness, most likely you're going to need to be willing to be in the presence of the pain which caused you to seal yourself off from others -- because being close to another person means there will be pain sometimes.

can all pain be overcome? if so, how?
by Ruffy on March 18th, 2007
Please note that I didn't say anything about "overcoming" pain. That's not what there is to do with pain -- the thing to do with pain is to be hurt. If you allow the pain to do what it does, without clinging or resistance, it has a natural progression toward healing. There's nothing to "overcome" about it. The reason we get caught up in that kind of thinking is simply that we're addicted to dealing with it in an abstract way instead of just letting it hurt until it's done.

I like that, Stableboy. Excellent philosophy.
