What is the difference between an apple and a crab apple tree?

    A crab apple is much smaller and more sour than the domestic table apple. In my experience crab apples can be be strangely curved and even occasionally look as if a pepper! Some basic information can be found at Wikipedia.

    I've eaten quite a few of them. They're very sour though. Not sure if it was good for me though... :)
