Help answer this question below.

IM CATHOLIC, BUT RECENTLY I WENT TO SOME KIND OF CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND THEY WERE TELLING ME THEY CONFESS THEIR SIN TO ONE ANOTHER. WHY IS THAT?

    Learn more about your Catholic faith before you expose yourself to any non-Catholic worship. Seek the advise of your parish priest on the subject. He will tell you that your Bishop forbids any Catholic to worship in a non-Catholic worship service. You have just experienced the reason why. As an undercatechized Catholic, you are easy pickins for these sincere but mistaken people.

    Jesus granted the power to forgive sins only to the apostles (John 20:21 and Matt 9:8) and their successors, the bishops. The bishops confer this authority to priests, and permit or deny them the exercise of the authority.

    • This is why the Roman Catholic church didn't let the people read the Bible for so long. They wanted to keep the people trapped in their ignorance, superstition, and dogma. If they read it they might figure out who the harlot is and see the writing on the wall.

    • Addlebrain: Personally, I don't have time to go through the vatican's files and you can think what you want, I really don't care. I spent quite a few years in their schools and that's all of their indoctination that I needed. Bye.

    • I'll save you the effort -- you can't produce the document because it doesn't exist. Next time, do your research before you bash the Church and end up looking like a fool in public.

    • Actually I DID attend Bibe Studies as a Catholic. It was not uncommon during the Charismatic Renewal. My journey took me in another direction, but I still have no animosity toward the Catholic Church.
