Apparently I have a 64-bit processor, and I'm running 32-bit Vista. Will switching to 64-bit Vista make a significant performance increase?

And many of the software that is free will not work on 64-bit,alot of folks find their favorite software no longer works when they switch to 64-bit as its not compatible.
