Will small debts, such as old late fees from a video store, or an unpaid CD from a record club appear on my credit history?

    To be honest, it really depends upon the company themselves. But yes, they *can* show up on your credit record. It depends on whether or not that particular company wants to go to the trouble of reporting the unpaid debt to the credit bureau that they report to. Some will, and some won't. Personally speaking, I once had a debt to figis, a food-type gift club, and didn't pay the $20 I owed them, and it ended up on my credit report. So it really all is up to the company on their end of things, and whether they wish to report you or not. But yes, they can do it, and yes, it does happen.
