In Russia where I live it`s tradition to help children to raise their children.

    • That sounds like a great idea, I was talking about the grandparents, doing it instead of the parent, it seems to be happening more and more, were the parents are irresponsible.

    • Yes,here in Russia very often grandparents raise children instead of parents for some time, for example when their children study at another place, or take children for summer, or for every weekend. It`s normal in Russia. But most grandparents take care of children while their parents are at their work.I have a neigbour who goes every day to another end of Moscow very early in the morning just to accompany her granddaughter to school because her daughter has no time for it( we don`t have school buses in Russia, most of children study near the place they live, but this girl has to cross the road and her grandmother worries about it).

    • I wanted to add, that I was brought up by my grandmother while my mother was studing at university in another city, she visited us very seldom. My grandmother was like my mother for me, I love her so very much, she died and it was the biggest loss in my life. But my son I raised myself without any help at all.
