It sound like the fuel going to those two cylinders isn't being ignited. Generally speaking, that's caused by a cracked distributor cap, but your year of Cutlass may or may not have a distributorless ignitions system. If so, the ignition control module may have gone bad, and in either case, there may be an issue of getting power to the plugs. I'm not so up on distributorless systems, but in a traditional system, you may have bad plug wires. It would be unusual, though, for this to be the cause of a problem in two cylinders.

Distributor cap and rotor, plugs and plug wires are all wear items which should be changed with every tuneup. It may seem obvious, but make sure your plug wires are connected to the distributor in the proper firing order. If those two plug wires are reversed, they will spark at the wrong time, and the fuel won't burn. This may or may not cause backfiring.
