I still think we are all Americans and shouldn't be label in any other way. And "white" people as you call them do not consider themselves to be any more real Americans than anyone else. That is offensive. The only native to this continent are the Native Americans.

Some do, Yeahwell, I have heard it a LOT over the years. I have been told to "go home" because I am not white (uhm, I am a citizen... I am just as American as you, moron"). I have seen these morons saying that all non whites are not real Americans. Durrrr... they have even said that to Native Americans.
However, most white people do not pull that one... only the ignorant ones and there are ignorant ones in every ethnicity.
I agree with you on the hyphenated American thing. I DO think that the Native Americans merit the hyphenation because of their circumstances but the rest of us are just plain Americans (if we are citizens).
I go into my ethnicity if asked but, other than that, I just say that I am American. I certainly do not call myself a Rromani-American or Gypsy-American and I do not know of any of us who do that.

I am just pointing out that these idiots do exist.
I also believe that, if it was possible to measure, the percentage of racist morons would be equal per capita for all ethnicities.
