The big chest freezer in my Aunt's basement gave out a serious shock anytime the latch was lifted. Although it was funnier than it was painful, we kids always had an excuse to get out of having to go deal with that thing!

Once when I was helping Mother re-hang draperies in the picture windows of our family beer joint, I got a horrible electrical shock. The neon light was left on and not noticed! So when I reached up to the traverse rod, leaning into the old metal Venetian blinds, they touched the neon light. Not exactly the kind of buzz you'd want to get in a bar!

Another time a storm came in faster than I could finish washing up our poodle, Ruffles, in the kitchen sink. Lightning hit the pump in our well (378 feet down) and I felt the serge come up my arms, from him standing in the water. Poor little guy! The thunder afterwards was pretty painful too!
