How did Meat Loaf get his name?

Over the years, he has given several different stories. I've found 2.

1. Marvin Lee Aday stepped on the foot of his high school football coach, who shouted 'Meat Loaf' instead of swearing.

2. Marvin Aday's (Meat Loaf) childhood nickname that his alcoholic father called him to tease Meat about his weight.

the "Official International Meat Loaf Fan Community"

When he was 2 his father called him "Meat" because of his size, even then. Later, when old enough to attend school, his classmates added the "Loaf".
