What is saw palmetto, and what does it do?

    Saw Palmetto is an herb which is generally taken for male health problems, including Lower Urinary Tract problems, and also for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BHP) which is a disease of the prostate gland. Many clinical trials have shown its effectiveness for these disorders. However there are myths that it can do things such as increase sexual performance, and these are just that...myths. While its effectiveness for prostate health and lower urinary tract health have been proven, it is important to always ask your doctor before you begin treatment of any disease with herbal suppliments (so as to prevent medicine interactions, or serious side effects).
