Brazil's population is is about the same as all the population of the Spanish speaking countries so Portuguese and Spanish is equally spoken but it use to be that the most common language was Portuguese in South america not Spanish. Check your facts 192 million Spanish and Portuguese speaker so it's a tie. Plus I like Portuguese better anyway
