Is surgery to repair a torn labrum in the throwing shoulder of a pitcher even worth it? I'm 16 years old and could throw lower 70's

What do you think of the pitcher who set the record at 105 mph fast ball, fastest ever recorded on radar?

If a pitcher is throwing 50 miles per hour from 42 feet what speed would that equate to at 60 feet and 6 inches

You're reading I'm 13. How fast do I need to be able to throw now to make the MLB when I'm older?

I think I throw like 60 from an MLB mound, would you consider that good?

That sounds good for a 13 year old.

You sound talented and passionate, which are two things that can lead you to success. As I said, be very careful with your shoulders and your ACL. There was just an article in the paper this morning about how there is a huge increase of children with repetative stress injuries now, and how in some cases surgery that works on adults won't work for children.

The acl can be repaired with little ill effect, blew mine in football in high school, its stronger than my other knee now and has less soreness after a hard day of skiing (i ski 60 days a year). Watch that UCL and make sure you dont damage it in any way. Also if you need surgery look for the best, Dr Crockett at New West sports medicine in Kearney, Nebraska is among the best for these injuries. Just make sure you do your research and find an excellent surgeon, not just the guy at your local hospital. If your pitching chances are one of these injuries are going to happen.
