I have always thought it was more lust, you know, that DRAMATIC love "in love with love" that so many teenagers are inflicted with.
Either that, or they were both certifiably stupid.
To my way of thinking, the best way to mourn a passionate love would be to live to mourn it, honor it, and generally make the idiots who made it impossible to feel guilty for the rest of their miserable lives. I would think the best way to honor a love would be to work tirelessly to make a similar love POSSIBLE for the next hapless couple to fall in love "across enemy lines".
As it was, the pair had a tragedy, not a great love story.

    • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I share this idea EXACTLY and I've been waiting forever to hear someone else say it. It sometimes feels like I'm on the losing side of a battle, and that nobody will ever truly understand that Romeo and Juliet is a story of youthful folly and not love, which is a problem, because nearly every modern love story is based off of it. Thanks again!
