Question

Help answer this question below.

My photographer boyfriend shoots mostly commercial clients (e.g. hotels, restaurants). But sometimes he shoots fetish and nude models. I think nude modeling objectifies women and is degrading. I asked him to stop that line of work. Am I being harsh?

It depends on how long you have been dating. I think that maybe telling him how you feel would be better to start off with, and simply see what his motive is. It is his profession and maybe he would prefer not to do it either but if it puts food on his table and clothes on his back, then that is what he has to do.

    • Thanks. I've been dating for less than a year. I agree it might have been a nicer approach to express my feelings first, rather than asking him to change. But I'm a direct person. As for his profession, he has other options, as I mentioned above. We all have options.

    • You are right. I hope that he listens to your feelings. If he really cares about you, then he should have no problems considering other options. I hope all goes well for you, and I wish you the best in your relationship! :)
