First of all Catholics don't know anything about Jehovah God. The bible is kept away from them, only the Preist is allowed to look into it and read passages from it. Everyone within the congregation is forbidded to do so. Which is stupid, how can we worship God if we do not know him? By knowing him you must read the bible. So the reason why they confess their sins to a priest is because they are told to do so. If they had read the bible and understood it then they would confess to Jehovah God instead. And I know because I was once a Catholic.

    • this is so true - catholics can be so blind to the lies their leaders tell them - some things that are even forbidden and advised against in the Bible. +5

    • That's ridiculous, no one is forbidden to read the bible. I am a catholic and I read the Bible once a year. I confess to a priest because God already knows what I did, and He knows I am sorry, but the act of confession gives me the opportunity to try to make up for my sin, even in some small way. By humbling myself and saying out loud that I have sinned I can begin to move past the sin and continue along the right path.

    • Once a year? how does that work? what do you do for the rest of the year? Humbling to yourself, saying that you have sinned out loud doesnt mean anything to God. It's showing a repentant attitude, pray to him for that you are sorry and to ask for his forgiveness, ask him to help you to do the things that pleases him.

    • I don't think that you had been a Catholic once, as you claim. Because, you said that only priest can have the bible and that everyone within the congregation are forbidden to look into it. I myself a catholic and have a Douay-Rheim bible and read it whenever I can.

    • I agree with anonymous. My mother got her bible in Mexico (catholic editorial) when she vacationed there from colombia. It has great commentary and alludes respectfully to protestant ones stating differences and similarities. It even mentions other books not in the catholic bible that are in greek orthodox. In colombia many people had bibles and were encouraged to study.

    • I know this is an old ? but it requires clarification. This samoan idiot apperently has a computer and should use it to do research. Of course he may just perfer to look stupid. Enough of that. Nothing he stated is factual. I have a CATHOLIC BIBLE bought at a mall book store. Any catholic is free to read it any time. He may have been catholic, not an educated catholic.

    • I'm not downrating you but I don't think this is right at all. Maybe in some areas, but I was raised in the Roman Catholic church, went to a Roman Catholic cathedral every Sunday for both main church service and children's liturgy ("Sunday school"), and I ALWAYS had access to a family Bible, my own Bible that the school required each student to have, and others as well. The Bible may have been kept away from the non-priests in MEDIEVAL times, but it is not so today - or at least, not so in every Roman Catholic church.

    • Wow. You are very wrong. I was a Catholic. I escaped. But I know nothing you have said to be true.

    • LOL... "only the Preist is allowed to look into it and read passages from it"...really? than I must have been dreaming all these Masses when I could swear lay people were also doing the readings...also you know nobody stops us from reading the Bible whenever we want. The priests actually encourage us (Gasp)...did you write your answer seriously or as a joke?

    • Jehova GOD? What is Jehova God? There must be only one God and it is formless and omnipresent.
