Why do girls get turned off when guys use pick-up lines?

    The first stage of attraction is physical, so when the girl sees you she'll be either attracted or not. The first thing you say to her has a very big impact. If she considers you attractive then a pick up line may work if it's original but not all the time. If you tell her something that creates intrigue, like a subtle compliment in her ear ensuring you are close enough for her to smell your cologne then disappearing into the crowd, it may leave her floating and curious. Then just make yourself visible to her from across the room catching eachothers eyes with a small smile (don't wink or lick your lips). If you've been successful she'll approach you to find out more.
    I think girls are attracted to originality and pick up lines like "I've lost my phone number can I have yours?" show you are unintelligent and lacking in originality.
    On the other hand if at first glance the girl is physically unattracted to you you will have to work very hard to turn her around and a lame pick up line will give you about as much chance as a snowball in hell.
    In saying all this every girl is different and it is impossible to know what will work for them so all you can do is try. But chances are a rehearsed pickup line from an e-mail your single mate sent you from his bedroom at his parents house, won't work.
