Why would he not be? He has HIV which apparently has not (yet) progressed to AIDS--if that is what you are referring to. They have some pretty powerful antiviral medications on the market now...I understand that they can make you very ill--but not kill you:)

I thought that HIV normally develops into AIDS after 10-15 years. I definitely do NOT wish him any harm, but I and many people wonder if he is privy to medicine that the ordinary person is not (given) and I question the ethics in not having that medicine available to the general public.

Could comment, Sinister Cadre. I have wondered myself. I think most HIV positives get whatever is available, but Magic is certainly a unique case. But, maybe not. Some people may have a special, "innate" type of natural immunity. Some studies have indicated this.

I realize in retrospect that this question was not worded properly. I cannot edit it, but I was referring to the medicine he uses. I feel it should be available to people at a more affordable price.

Tom I know this is true. I remember a story in particular about a boy who was able to recover from HIV in the 90s. Very good point.

We think it is a very old virus that may have allowed immunities to develop in certain groups, particularly some African peoples. Before somebody starts trolling here, this is from research and we are very interested in what that immunity is and does.

I have friends who are HIV +ve and AIDS -ve after 20 years...I don't know that they get special drugs but I do know that they take damn good care of themselves in everyway they can. Maybe that is also and underlying factor...but there is so much about this virus that we simply do not know...

So true, Da Ben Dan. It is a delicate little bug and cannot survive outside a host for more than a few seconds. So, people's fear of those who are HIV positive is unwarrented. Medical workers must take extra precautions, of course, because they may work directly with blood tests. And any sexual contact is potentially dangerous. Precaution is paramount.
