When you blow on your hands, you do not blow hard, but you blow
very gently. In doing so, your hands will get warmer by the steam of
your breath. You know steam has lots of heat energy in it.

And when you blow on your tea, you blow rather hard. If you blow on
a tea, you would replace the very hot and humid air just above the tea
by your breath and that helps the tea evaporate taking away with heat
energy in the tea, which makes the tea cooler.

    • There is no "steam" in your breath. Steam only exists above 100 C (212 F)

    • jwmbiz is way off. All breath contains water vapor which does release heat as it condenses.
