A true feminist is a person who believes in equality - fully. Not the selective equality and special laws and privileges most so-called feminists demand.

A true feminist believes in the political, economic, and social equality of men and women. Which means that you must not ever treat a women differently than a man simply based on her sex. She cannot say, you must/should do this or that or must not/should not do this or that because I am female.

Chivalry is not compatible with feminism, for example. So, anyone that expects chivalry cannot also be a true feminist. A true feminist would not expect a man to give up his seat or public transportation or allow her to sit instead of him because she is female. A true feminist would not expect any sort of "ladies first" whether it be an elevator, door, ordering dinner, escaping from the Titanic or whatever.

A true feminist would not expect anything different than a man gets. That is equality.

There are few true feminists around.

    • True, true. There are a lot of hypocrites who claim to be feminists but really want women treated in a superior way.

    • Well said.
      .
It is hard for me, however, being raised very Old World, to NOT open a door for a Lady, giving up my seat on public transport for one, and other such. I have learned by having my head bitten off that I really should drop such activities.
      .
It really goes against my grain to NOT do such things.
