You're reading What idiot decided business hours should be Mon-Fri 9-5?
Comments
In one business week (Mon-Fri) there is 120hours total. Lets say the average person is up at 7am and goes to bed at 11pm.
- That's 8 hours of sleep from 11pm - 7am leaving you with just 16 hours / day
- 7am - 8:30am is mostly whiped out as you're getting kids ready to school, making breakfast, showering etc.
- 8 hours of everyday are sucked up with work (Working standard business hours)
- Most people will take upwards of 30min of travel time to get to and from their office, that makes 'work time' now 9 hours.
- You come home from work at 5:30pm and have family dinner from 6-6:30.
- Assuming the 'blackberry' gets turned off you're left with 4.5 hours to days end.
- You get a couple of hours in with the kids before they head to bed and only a couple of hours of alone time.
Is that enough time during the week to be with your family and friends? I think not!
