Help answer this question below.

I see no visible means of support for this site other than a parent company that runs it. Is AB a loss leader of some sort or a way to guage public opinion or something else entirely?

maybe it's a private funded site that tries to profit by creating a big enough client base that can be susceptible of being offered something (like google ads), profiting on internet is still a dark art.
