17 is a lot of units without a job at all. Jeez, you must be a machine!

    • I'll say. This sounds like an adult version of my childhood: swim team, gymnastics, Hebrew school three days a week, regular school five days a week, a focus problem that made my homework take MUCH longer than it should have, and all this with an 8:00pm bedtime. I think your load right now sounds pretty comparable to that. Does your mom know how many hours a week a school load like yours takes? Or that if you get completely overloaded that you won't be able to keep your grades up because you're not actually a machine?

    • Ugh, how obnoxious. Sorry to hear that. Can you have one of your teachers talk to your mom? I don't know if they do that in college, but it might be worth a shot. Maybe you can show your mom the recommendations for the maximum number of units a student should be taking if they're working 15 hours. I think it's about 10-12, if you're at an American community college. I promise you're taking way more than the recommended # of units. Maybe it will also help if you break down on a chart how long each thing takes, per unit: class hours, lab hours, homework hours. Also make sure to include transportation time to work and school, eating time, sleeping time, shower time, laundry time, time spent keeping your room clean, etc... Then show her how much time you have left for yourself. A pie chart should be good for visual effect.

Okay, it's a slightly pain in the ass way to go about it, but it sounds like your mom's a little difficult herself, so maybe it's just the thing she needs.

    • lol i talked to a teacher today about it. pretty much w the way my classes are scheduled if i have certain pockets of studying, and i don't work over my hours too much, i'll be able to function, but if it starts to get difficult she gave me her cell #. not to mention my best friend in one of my classes set up another bed for me just in case our study sessions get extended lol
