I do not agree that pagan beliefs were mixes with Christian beliefs, just because some customs may have been pagan in origin does not make them any less Christian.

The roman emperor you refer to was Constantine (c. 274 - 337 A.D.) If I am not mistaken, though, the custom of celebrating the Christ Mass on December 25 predates his decision to establish Christianity as the official religion of the empire.

muguet, what you said is not logical, "just because some customs may have been pagan in origin does not make them any less Christian." The word Pagan is the exact opposite of Christian in it's meaning. So, obviously if something has pagan origins it is not Christian.
