Help answer this question below.

Runners @ 2nd & 3rd w/ 1out.Batter flies out to center field. Both runners tag up. Runner on 3rd tags up legitimately. Runner on 2nd left early. Umpire calls runner @ 2nd out on an appeal. Does the run count from the runner who tagged from 3rd?

    The run from third counts. The third out is only official as of the throw over to second to appeal. Should the runner who left early realize at any point before this happens and return to second, he is safe.

    • Note that if the appeal play (throw to 2nd) is completed before the run scores, then the run would not count.
